Volunteering
For the past 25 years Bridge has survived in no small part by the willingness of volunteers to give their skills, knowledge, visions and time to make the organisation a success.
Our Board of Directors has changed over the years, but all the members of the Board, whether they come from a professional background or from the ranks of women who use Bridge, have all given a huge commitment to working together to keep the service we offer alive.
As well as becoming Board Members, there are many other ways that volunteers can support us.
Here is a selection of volunteering opportunities that make Bridge so unique:
· Listening Service – we train volunteers to level 2 counselling standard and they help other women through difficult times
· Cervical Screening – volunteers gain the skills they need to be part of a project that encourages women to take up the cervical screening offer
· Cardio Vascular Disease sign-posting – another great service run by trained volunteers to highlight to other women the services available to be ‘checked out’ for Cardio Vascular Disease.
· Mentoring programme – trained volunteers become mentors to women who use the project, enabling them to reach their full potential.
· Therapy sessions – Called ‘Serenity Sessions’, this service offers women the chance to take time out for themselves and have a massage provided by our trained volunteer
· Administration – volunteers help us on a day to day basis in all of the Bridge Centres and get involved in all sorts of administrative tasks
· Marketing and recruitment of learners
