Skills Challenge
Although it’s currently a time of ‘gloom & doom’ with the recession, Kirsten Lapping who runs Kirsten Lapping Designs, has come up with a fabulous idea to enhance the feel good factor.
Kirsten has launched the Skills Challenge where people can try a new skill, share a skill or swap a skill with others.
Kirsten say "this is really about trying something new, learning a skill that may come in useful in your daily life, or doing something that you may have longed to have a bash at".
Kirsten is determined to get the initiative off the ground and intends to try out a new skill each month. In February she linked up with the Gateshead Thunder Rugby team where she enjoyed being shown how to play rugby. In return Kirsten taught 4 professional rugby players how to craft and make a specially designed ‘exploding box’ with a rugby theme.
For her March challenge, Kirsten engaged with the Bridge Project, where she commenced her learning journey many years ago and taught a team of managers the art of card making. Kirsten always wanted to learn Sign Language so in return Liz from Bridge has trained her in the basic signs and alphabet of British Sign Language.
